When Thoreau says, “I might have resisted forcibly with more or less effect, might have run amok against society but I preferred that society should run amok against me,” I think Chris would have agreed because he thought it was good to not be part of society. He thought most of it was bad. Thoreau also said, “Wherever a man goes men will pursue and paw him with their dirty institutions.” This is sort of like Chris thinking money was bad and dirty so that’s why he burned it all.
One literary element would be setting. Setting is the time and place in which a story takes place. An important part in Walden is when he builds his cabin in the woods to get away from everyone and everything. His message is saying life should be simple and that’s exactly why he went to the woods.
If Thoreau was alive today at our society he would loathe it. he goes to the woods for a reason, to get away from everything. In our society everything is something to do with technology. and people always want the best thing. And you are always judge with the clothes you put on your back, and the car you drive , ect. on pg 75 he says “we do not ride on the railroad; it rides upon us.” he is saying the same thing. like i said before we try so hard to have best things and those things are riding us.
i feel in peace when i’m by myself in my room listening to my music. Or even when i’m with my best friends hanging out watching a movies or just talking with them.
I think this technology is going to be very helpful because it can read to you if you don’t know a word or something, there going to be a lot of them since its a 160 year old book. and it will be more exciting to read it on here and not just a boring book.
