In Into The Wild, Krakauer stated that Chris “…arranged all his paper currency into a pile on the sand-a pathetic little stack of ones and fives and twenties-and put a match to it.” Thoreau would have liked and would have been proud of this. This is something he him self would have done so it shows that Chris was trying to take after Thoreau and do things like him. It also shows that the money wasn’t important to Chris which is something Thoreau would agree with.
I think the technology will be helpful. It will make reading and understanding the book much more easier. Also it gives us the chance of seeing what other people are thinking and allowing us to interact with our peers.
I feel most content when I’m with friends at my house or theirs. I like just talking and hanging out with each other. It makes me feel happy because I don’t have to worry about anything and can just chill.
Conflict is external or internal problem faced by a protagonist. In the story Thoreau faces man vs society. He is opposed of the government because he feels he doesn’t need to pay taxes and also doesn’t support slavery. He also doesn’t like that people in society rush life.
Thoreau would definitely not approve of today’s society. He would not like that we rely so much on technology and materialistic objects so much. Also that we live in such a rushed world. “I want to live deliberately to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived,” what he means is that he wants to try and live without things that we so much want like TVs, telephones, and other technology. He wants to just live with the basic essentials of life and learn from that. He also states “Why should we live with such hurry and waste of life?” What he means is that he doesn’t want to take life for granted and rush.
