When Chris experienced the flash flood that destroyed his car, he did not get mad, panic, or give up. He “saw this as an opportunity to shed any unnecessary baggage” He berried his rifle, and burned his money. I believe that Thoreau would have liked the action that Chris did. Thoreau’s reason for living is to take the world as it comes, and not to change the world. By taking the flash flood as it came, Chris saw the good opportunity the world gave him.
One literary element the book Walden uses, is tone. Tone pretty much drives the book along and gives it a foundation. What it does is gets people thinking of society. The tone in this book is strong, and it may even persuade some people.
if Thoreau were to judge our society today, he would probably have so many bad things to say that he would not know where to begin. The definition of America is one of the things he would start out with. The definition of America is you can always have bigger and better things, one of them being food. In the seventeenth paragraph of this chapter, he repeatedly says, “Simplicity”. After that he proposes, ” Instead of three meals a day, if it be necessary eat but one; instead of a hundred dishes, five; and reduce other things in proportion” As you can see, the American slogan and Thoreau’s beliefs touch head to head.
I feel at peace when realize that history repeats itself. When I am reading the bible, there are so many people who have struggles that correlate directly to my life, My Walden is when they figure out how to solve these problems and press on.
I believe this mean will be super efficient and will make us be able to dig into things more and faster. I always love when teachers embrace and utilize new and rising technology in its vastness for good.
