One literary element would be conflict, and it plays a major role in the book. His conflict with the outside world is pretty amazing to see he hates society.

I think this book will be interesting to see peoples point of view from a hundred years ago.. It should be a fun reading.

If Thoreau was alive today i think he would find our society insufficient because he was a realistic man who provided for himself and lived off the land not using the technology there was but to not use anything that nature did not provide. People are to involved with themselves merged into their technology like computers, youtube, cell phones, and televisions and etc. Thoreau’s whole purpose was to be self sufficient and live in the wild not to be a people person shoved into society so i think he wouldn’t like our society today
