This passage I chose show some of Thoreau’s negativity towards the tools that humans have to make their lives easier, and I can only imagine what Thoreau would think of the internet and other new tools that we all use today. This passage shows that Thoreau prefers a simpler life where we help ourselves to awaken our own genius without the use of mechanical aids or tools.
