Point of view – the perspective in which the story takes place
Point of view is a slight importance to the story of Walden. It shows how the the whole book and experiment is from his point of view. Everything in the book was based on his own ideas and thoughts.
If Thoreau was alive today, he would hate society with a passion. All people care about are the materialistic things that shouldn’t matter. Thoreau states that “My imagination carried me so far that I even had the refusal of several farms, -the refusal was all I wanted, – but I never got my burned by actual possession.” What he’s saying is that he didn’t need material things during his life to be happy. In his perspective, possessions are almost thought to be sin, a sin that he wasn’t corrupted by.
I feel completely at peace when I’m in my own home. Just being in my own house with my family, my dogs and my food is so calming to me. I don’t really feel the need to go anywhere when I’m at home.
I think this is going to be interesting, mostly because it’s bringing the past and the present together.
