Participant@berks6 The beach is also a big one for me, because it is a reminder that you are part of something bigger than yourself.

ParticipantIf I could choose a place to walk, both the time and the location, it would be the beach at 35 minutes before sunset. I do not know what the name of the beach is, mostly because I have not been there in 6 months. I can tell you, however, that this beach is roughly 20 minutes from my house if you take the slow route, down Bay Pines to Madeira Beach, then go North. In this scenario, I take the slow route, listening to a mix of Peter Tosh and the smoother Led Zeppelin songs, looking at the sights along the beach. I find the parking the same way I do every time; I look for the old condominiums that sit next to the parking. Free parking is rare to find these days, but this is one of the places I have found in the short time I have been on this Earth. The ride readies me for the sight, the calming beat of Jamaican reggae and classic rock lets my mind wander before I arrive. This access holds lots of memories, but only 2 that I consider important. One with devastating implications, the other full of hope. The walk down to the water front takes about 5 minutes, but I planned on arriving about 45 minutes before sunset, just in case of traffic or any other complication. I arrive at the beach, take the sandals off my feet, and begin walking South. I walk in that direction for roughly 20 minutes, but I set no strict guidelines for that. The beach is mostly empty (this is if our current predicament was not upon us), and I have no problem leaving the footprints that will surely wash away before I turn around to come back. I take in the sight of the sparkling blue water, as well as the sky surrounding the horizon, which grows brighter and more colorful by the minute. When you give yourself 35 minutes before the sunset, you get to watch as God slowly paints his most favorite piece, one he loves so much he paints it everyday, everywhere. The rainbow represents a promise God made to the world, but the sunset is his way of saying, “Look at your potential, and see the reward that awaits for you at the end of your horizon”. The sky is pretty as its normal bright blue shade, but when the sun reaches down to touch that horizon, its full potential is displayed for all to see. I walk this walk for the same 2 reasons every time: To realize that my struggles, however powerful they seem to me, are nothing compared to the vastness of beauty that stands before me, and that God made me for a purpose, and how I am at this current point in time is nothing compared to the potential I have in me. Rejuvenated by my walk, I turn and start heading back.
