In into the wild Krakauer says, ” Then, in a gesture that would have done both Thoreau and Tolstoy proud, he arranged all his paper currency in a pile on the sand-a pathetic little stack of ones and fives and twenties-and put a match to it.” This would make Thoreau proud because he is mentioned and if Thoreau were in Chris McCandless’ place he would have done the same thing.
Point of view means the perspective from which the story/novel is written.
Point of view is a very important literary element in Walden. This book is written in first person by the author and protagonist of the book Henry David Thoreau. It plays a big role in the book because Thoreau is the only character and he is able to talk about everything in his point of view.
If Thoreau was alive today he would be disgusted at society. Thoreau liked to have as few possessions as possible and today possessions mean everything to today’s society. Thoreau says, “The only house I had been the owner of before, if I except a boat, was a tent, which I used occasionally when making excursions in the summer”. In today’s world people like to have nice homes and Thoreau only needed a tent.
I feel most at peace in my house when I am watching football on a Sunday afternoon.
I think using the computer and the new technology will be better for the students. The text will probably be boring but the technology will make it less miserable.
