the pond is very symbolic towards society when you are next to it in it is seems grand and prefect but when you take a step back is flawed just like society.
Solitude is the thing that remove societies overbearing judgment and people when put under that pressure it strikes fear but the fear is of loneliness. Also by removing the other human factor they lose the fear allowing them to let go. We see it all the time just if we look around us in high school though you are surround by people we still feel alone and disapproved of. remove the single cell then with out that pressure it goes away. like girls may wear heels and dresses to school but a soon as the are home they feel safe and put on sweats and torn up uggs . I feel like that is like the Walden’s project was just like this but a much larger scale.
Amanda I agree with you view very much so. I believe the part about people being insincere is quite right we see it all the time n modern society people talking behind backs and half listening to music and our friend tell you about their problems and so on and so forth. but I also see the part that the fear of those things is what causes the loneliness and remove that cause which is the human variable you take away that fear and taking away the loneliness.
