Setting is where and when a story takes place. This story takes place from 1845 to 1847 at Walden Pond. The pond is very secluded and not populated by people. It plays a important role in the book because it helps Thoreau stay away from people.
Today Thoreau would hate the way we have modernized. In the book he says, “Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumb nail.” I don’t think he would appreciate what we think simple is nowadays, like how we think using technology for everything is simple but he would say we do not need those things to begin with. We are completely dependent on technology and others, whereas Thoreau was a very independent person.
I feel completely at peace when I am in my room, I have almost everything I need there. I can do anything I want and I don’t have to leave to go get something.
I believe that using this website to read the book will be a helpful tool. If it will be enjoyable is hard to say. Reading this book is painful so far its just not that interesting
